How Many Different Places in the World had it?
The plague wiped out over a third of europe. This bacteria spread like wild fire. A bunch of different places had it like the Black Sea, Genoa, the Mediteranean sea, Constinople, Sicily, Italy, Greece, France, Spain, England, and Poland. Thats a lot of places. The plague (Black Death) hit so many places nobody could keep up with who was dieing and when they were dieing. I think that is really sad!!
This disease was and still is highly contagious. People were dieing so fast there were about ten to fifteen corpes on every street. Thats a lot of bad smelling people! Who died of an unfortunate disease. I feel bad for all the people that lost loved ones and people they are close to. I know how I would feel if I lost a friend or family member to a disease with no cure.
How do you know when you have gotten the plague?
You definitely knew when you had gotten the plague. The symptoms were really obvious and disturbing! Some of the symptoms were painfully swollen lymph nodes or buboes. Internal bleeding, throwing up and large bruises in some cases the bacilli entered the blood stream, in other cases it went into the nervous system. Some people only lasted a day or two others lasted two or three.
There are three different types of the black death. Bubonic, Septicemic, Pneumonic they all had different symptoms but some symptoms were the same. In most cases either you had the horrible disease or you knew somone with it. I personally would try to avoid getting these bacteria because it is not fun!!

Why are there so many names? Why is it called the Black Death?
A long time ago a little after the plague started the historians gave the plague the name the "Black Death" because the plague wiped put thousands of people from Europe, Africa, France, and England so pretty much all over the world, in all different places, people were dieing from these bacteria that no one could cure. I bet they were trying very hard to find a cure though because people were dieing left and right all over the place!!
So many people were dieing and they couldnt find a cure, I mean really! The streets were full of dead people. but the reason it is called the plague is because "plague" is a latin word for plaga. Plaga in latin means wound. Usually if someone died in there house the neihbors were the first to know. because of the disqusting smell drifting from the windows and doors. I would probably throw up!

What were the Most Common Species to Catch the Plague?
The plague was not only carried by rats and humans. Other species as well, like fleas and other animals but mostly rodents. I hope I never get bitten by a flea or any other common carrier of the black death. The fleas would bite the rats and then bite all of the people. I’m glad I don’t live in the city with rats. These bacteria lived in the blood of the rats and most of the people.
What caused the plague?
This was a very gross, painful and seriously deadly disease. Bumps and itching, painful and disqusting! The plague also known as the Black Death was caused by bacteria that affected huge numbers of people everywhere, all over the world. This was not a very friendly disease. The plague was very contagious and a lot of people abandoned there friends and family for that reason, they thought that touching seeing or having anything in contact would infect you with the disease but thats wrong, your blood has to come in contact with someone elses blood. And once you got it , it wasn't fun!!
I would never abandon my family, even if they had a disease, because they are very important to me. The name of the bacteria the plague is caused by is called the “Bacillus Yersinia Pestis.” GROSS!!! But there are different types of this squirmy disease as well. There are three different types of the plague bacteria that I will tell you about later. I would not want a disease called "Bacillus Yersinia Pestis," that sounds weird. I hope the black death never happens again because that was a huge tragedy that no one deserves it.
